چکیده

Abstract Argania spinosa L. Skeels is an Algerian-Moroccan endemic tree. This species part of various plant communities consisting Mediterranean, Macaronesian and Saharan floristic elements. It has been introduced perhaps sometimes naturalized in regions the Mediterranean basin. Due to its role combating desertification, high socio-economic value, traditional use as fodder food, southwestern Moroccan argan grove (Arganeraie) was declared Biosphere Reserve. had already subject conservation reforestation programs a century earlier. Its cultivation for oil production could be, besides economic objective, effective method conserve genetic diversity. Therefore, this study aims estimate potential distribution establish efficient breeding by determining ecological requirements, identifying different habitats, predicting habitat suitability models Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Spain. Using 53 occurrence points, wind speed direction data, 29 bioclimatic variables, multivariate methods were applied describe profiles characterize heterogeneity subsequently, train Maxent model that establishes, Morocco suitable areas Tunisia The North African area limited western coast Algeria flat coastal eastern Tunisia. increased likelihood remains southeast Iberian Peninsula. A probability also evident Canary Islands. These results provide possibilities future expansion crop window opportunity improve diversity conservation.

Amino phenolics from the fruit of the argan tree Argania spinosa (Skeels L.).

A new phenolic-type compound containing a nitrogenous, heterocyclic-fused ring from the fruit of the argan tree, Argania spinosa (Skeels L.), is described. This and another already known compound also isolated in the course of the work belong to an obscure and rare class of natural products, the amino phenolics.

Ethnoeconomical, ethnomedical, and phytochemical study of Argania spinosa (L.) Skeels.

Populations of the South-western part of Morocco traditionally use the fruits of Argania spinosa (L.) Skeels to prepare an edible oil whose obtainment furnishes, as side product, a cake used to feed the cattle and complemented the forage furnished by the leaves and fruits of this same plant. However, the wood of A. spinosa is also used for fuel and the subsequent induced deforestation is nowada...

Hypolipidemic and hypocholesterolemic effect of argan oil (Argania spinosa L.) in Meriones shawi rats.

The potential health benefits of various dietary oils in relation to cardiovascular disease and cancer are recently receiving considerable attention. The main proposal of this study is to investigate the effect of dietary argan oil, obtained from seeds of Argania spinosa L. (Sapotaceae) endemic from Morocco, on serum lipids composition. Hyperlipidemia was induced by high calorie and cholesterol...

Evidence of hypolipemiant and antioxidant properties of argan oil derived from the argan tree (Argania spinosa).

BACKGROUND Virgin argan oil is of interest in cardiovascular risk prevention due to its fat composition and antioxidant compounds. AIMS We investigated with Moroccan subjects the effect of regular virgin argan oil consumption on lipid profile and antioxidant status and the in vitro effect of argan oil minor compounds (tocopherols, sterols and polyphenols) on LDL peroxidation. DESIGN Healthy...

Genetic diversity of the endangered argan tree (Argania spinosa L.) (sapotaceae) revealed by ISSR analysis

Genetic variation in 150 trees of A. spinosa was estimated using inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR). The plant material used in this study were originated from five provenances belonging to the principal provinces of argan ecosystem in southwest of Morocco. Based on the nine ISSR primers, 86 loci were scored. At the population level, percentage of polymorphic bands (PPB) was ranged from 75.58 ...
